O God, protector and lover of the humble, You bestowed on Your servant, Bernadette, the favor of the vision of Our Lady, the Immaculate Virgin Mary, and of speech with her. Grant that we may deserve to behold You in heaven. Amen.

Father Chesco was born in Bello, Columbia in 1954. He received his calling to serve God in 1974. He was ordained as a priest on August 7, 1980. When asked why he became a priest he said, “It was to help people and serve God.”
Father Chesco came to the United States in 2006 on a three-year rotation. In 2009, with the permissions of the Bishops of Raleigh and Columbia, he was extended for another three years. He enjoys being in the United States because he feels he is a Sheppard and is helping the sheep. This is a reference to the many immigrants that need help coming from other countries. Father Chesco loves being here at St. Bernadette’s helping people.
On a personal note, Father Chesco misses his family and friends, but does go home to Columbia once-a -year to see them. He hopes that at the end of this rotation he will be able to get extended another three years. When asked about food, he mentioned that he likes almost everything as long as it not spicy.
